Vladimir Putin said he has a positive view of the results of the U.S.-Russia talks held in Saudi Arabia earlier this week, Russian state media reported on Wednesday.
“Yes, I was briefed on the talks. I rate them highly. They brought results,” Putin said.
The Russian president also confirmed that Moscow and Washington “agreed to resume the normal operations of their diplomatic agencies.” U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced this agreement a day earlier. According to Putin, impeding the work of embassies “doesn’t lead to anything good.”
“If things keep going this way, soon the only ones working in those buildings will be the cleaning staff,” he told journalists.
Putin said that U.S. President Donald Trump told him Ukraine would be part of any talks on ending the war and wouldn’t be left out. He also mentioned that the meeting in Saudi Arabia covered various topics, including the economy, energy, and space.
He added that he’d like to meet with Trump but said the meeting should be well-prepared to ensure it leads to real results.
