Trump threatens Russia with ‘large scale’ sanctions in response to latest attacks on Ukraine

Source: Donald Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump threatened Russia with “large-scale” sanctions if Moscow refuses to halt military operations in Ukraine and engage in talks with Kyiv.

Trump wrote the following on his social network, Truth Social:

Based on the fact that Russia is absolutely “pounding” Ukraine on the battlefield right now, I am strongly considering large scale Banking Sanctions, Sanctions, and Tariffs on Russia until a Cease Fire and FINAL SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT ON PEACE IS REACHED. To Russia and Ukraine, get to the table right now, before it is too late. Thank you!!!

Immediately after Trump’s post, the Moscow Exchange index dropped by almost 1.5 percent.

A day earlier, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Washington was willing to go “all in” on sanctions against Moscow if necessary, warning that they would “be used explicitly and aggressively for immediate maximum impact.”
